A companion piece to Nguyen Le Phuong Linh’s “Dictionnaire Del’image,” “Am” is a ekphrastic sound composition seeking to illustrate the emergence of language from sound. Language is dissolved to its basic components: breath, non-verbal noise using the body and external objects, improvisation, play, and other intensities, until it materializes into actual words.
